Dr. Brown has been performing refractive surgery since 1992 and has continually advanced his skills in this exciting area. From 1992 to 1996 he performed over 1,000 radial keratotomies and astigmatic keratotomies. When the excimer laser became available in 1995, Dr. Brown was among the first surgeons in Arkansas to use this more precise method of refractive surgery to improve distance vision in nearsighted patients. In 1999, after successfully operating on 1,200 eyes with PRK, he trained under Dr. Daniel Durrie of Kansas City, a national leader in refractive surgery, and learned the LASIK procedure. Desiring to know what it was like to be a refractive patient, Dr. Brown had the LASIK procedure himself, and has 20/20 distance vision without glasses. Since that time, he has performed 10,000 laser refractive procedures.
Dr. Brown has given LASIK talks to eye doctors throughout the state and has trained other eye surgeons in this procedure. He currently performs LASIK in Northwest Arkansas, in his office at the Brandon Eye Clinic.
